Part 3

For this part of our travel log, we enjoy the remainder of our stay at Faro de Bucerias and then head south through the state of Michoacan and into the state of Guerrero.  You will see more spectacular view points and scenery.  We'll show you this great dam right at the border between the two states.  Oh, and we also show you the fancy shower where Barry cleaned up after we got STUCK, for the first time, in the sand on the beach.  What a day that was!

Faro de Bucerias, Michoacan, Mexico

This was one of the views from our hike up to the lighthouse that we were telling you about in our last update.  As mentioned in previous updates the boats you see down below are fishing boats called pangas.  When you see them you know fishing is good in that area.

Pride of ownership is so evident in this pretty little home :).

Ah, and here is something else that we keep forgetting to take pictures of.  Their homemade ladders... aren't they great!  We took a series of them and could not decide which ones to include here so we put them all in :)

We got a kick out of the chair up by the pila.  Have we mentioned pila's before?  The large black plastic container on the roof is a pila and they are filled with water.  A big truck comes by and fills them up for everyone.  The cost is very reasonable.

This guy reinforced his ladder with string, and strung a hammock up in case he needed to take a nap.

Did we mention that it is very hot :)?  Well even this fellow decided to find a way to beat the heat.  He dug a big hole in this pile of gravel and climbed in for an afternoon snooze.

We were able to get almost right up to him before he lazily opened his eyes, and then dozed back off again.  Too tired to get up and great us :).

As we mentioned in the last update, we did not have a view here, however, we had a great spot right by the restaurant, showers and washrooms.  Right in front of us were tent campers, camped out under the palapa's.  The ocean can be glimpsed under the palapa's.  It was a beautiful bay!

Why did we take a picture of these limes??  Well, because this is something else we wanted to point out.  The best limes we have ever tasted are ripest and tastiest when they are yellow not green.  They are about the size of a golf ball.  They are so delicious, we use them on meals, for limonade drinks and squirt them in our Coca Cola Light drinks.  Delicious!

Could they have fit anymore barrels on this truck?  What a hoot!  These will be used as water storage containers and they are quite a bit smaller than the ones that we pointed out earlier.  The barrels are usually found on the ground in the courtyard near the entrance of peoples homes.  We believe they are used for water that is not intended for drinking, but for cleaning, washing, etc.

Hello from Tiki.  Cindy got in a bit too close with the camera, and that is why Tiki is not in focus.  But we included the picture anyway, as he is so cute.

Again, look at the colour of that water and that gorgeous view.

We won't tell you how many pictures we took to get these next three pictures.  The waves were huge and the colours were gorgeous.

This is of a wave cresting...

Leaving Faro de Bucerias, Michoacan, Mexico

As we were leaving Bucerias we saw this guy tied up and munching at the side of the road.

We also slowed down and called out to this guy and gave him the thumbs up.  Look at the size of that fish!!  We wanted to let him know just how impressed we were with the fish he caught.

Travelling along this coast reminded us of some of our travels along the west coast of the United States.  Just gorgeous!

We tried to to take this picture in such a way as to show just how steep this view point was.  We included Barry's foot at the bottom of the picture at the top of the cliff as a reference point.  Almost straight down!

We took this picture to show how large and beautiful this hacienda was.  It was landscaped and immaculate.  Just gorgeous!

This is very near and similar in topography to the RV Park/Hotel and Restaurant where we slept for the night.  The reason we don't have any pictures is because... when we drove in and asked if we could camp at this little hotel, the owner said sure, and park wherever you like.

Normally, we are very good at determining how firm the sand is, we have never gotten stuck before.  And this time we even got out of the coach and tested it.  However, we sunk into a bit of a hole, and definitely got stuck.  Barry and the owner worked for several hours, in the intense heat to get us out.  They were unbelievably kind and helpful, what nice people.  They would not take any extra money for helping us out, so we decided, after all was said and done, to eat in their restaurant and leave a big tip.  Note:  Looking back on this event, we tried to figure out WHY we sank in the sand to the degree that we did.  What we thought was that previously, someone else drove onto the beach and got stuck.  They must have dug themselves out and then filled in the hole where they were stuck.  At this spot, the sand was much less firm and we SUNK right up to the axle of one rear wheel.  Ooops...

Caleta de Campos, Michoacan, Mexico

This is where Barry and Tiki had a shower after the whole ordeal.  This shower was right outside with a flimsy blanket at the door.  Barry and Tiki were so hot and dirty they did not care and threw modesty out the window :)

Are you wondering why Tiki had to have a shower too?  Why he was so dirty?  We let him run free while we worked on the coach.  It was really HOT.  To beat the heat, Tiki walked over and lied down in a mud puddle, did his little roll back and forth and sighed with relief.

This is a great picture!  We were obviously taking a picture of this dog, with his front paws crossed.  Very cute.  We realized a few things when we looked at the picture on the computer.  You can look in the side view mirror of the coach and see back up the road, AND you can see Cindy's hands and the camera!  How funny is that?

Ixtapa, Guerrero, Mexico

In this picture you can see Ixtapa off in the distance.  Even though our friends Chin and Fabian recommended we go and visit Ixtapa, we just did not have time.  We did however, go to Zihuatanejo for the day, and had a great visit as you will see in our next travel log.

Moving right along now, we are now in Guerrero...and looking forward to sharing our travels with you in the next segment.  Until then... adios!
