San Cristobal De Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico

We are now in the beautiful town of San Cristibol de las Casas and after looking hard for a place to stay we chose this huge parking lot.  We shared it with big trucks that came and went with loads of goods to sell at the markets...  And, we shared it with this man, his horse and his son!

Often the buildings around the Zócalo are some of the most beautiful in town.  In this case they were exceptional, take note of the architecture in the next number of photos...

San Cristobal De Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico

Each day, you see city workers sweeping the zócalos all over Mexico.  Notice the specialized broom this lady is using.  The Zócalos are a wonderful place to congregate, people watch, get a bite to eat, etc.

Barry was in dire need of some 'good' coffee beans, and he sure wasn't disappointed in San Cristobal.  He was able to buy a total of 4 kilos of a couple of different kinds of really good, freshly roasted coffee beans.  Along with being able to buy coffee, there was a small coffee museum to stroll through.

We are now back on the road and continuing our travels through the mountains of Chiapas.  This flat area was unique in a couple of ways.  We start to see wood stick fences and wood homes.  In most parts of Mexico, homes are usually made of cement blocks or adobe and plaster...

Uh oh!!!  Is it just us or does that look too narrow for George, our motorhome...  We hop out to survey the situation and decide to go for it.  We literally inch our way along this narrow drive, scraping the branches, until it opens up to this magnificent place...
